1. Everyone has the right to freedom of peaceful assembly and association.

2. No one may be compelled to belong to an association.

It happened to be that I came across this demonstration purely by coincidence. It was a demonstration that stood for ‘pro-life’, and therefore anti-abortion. “It is pure murder,” according to one demonstrator. They also find euthanasia unacceptable. Apparently, it is performed nowadays on people with dementia, without their consent. Also, the protesters believe they are protecting Dutch culture. For them, it is not acceptable that street names named after certain individuals from the past, who may not have a clean slate, will be changed. They believe that “it’s part of our culture.” This gathering took place next to the parliament, in order to catch the attention of politicians.

Stirezo conducts protests, spreads petitions, writes articles, appears in the media and watches at abortion clinics – everything to help prevent the massive abortion of innocent children. In addition, ‘Culture under Fire’ is a campaign by the Civitas Christiana Foundation, which was established in 2014, to stop the further crumbling of Dutch culture and traditions. They understand Dutch culture in the context of Christian civilisation, as it has taken shape in Europe over the centuries.

2. Niemand mag worden gedwongen om tot een vereniging te behoren.

Het is toevallig dat ik op deze demonstratie stuitte. Dit was een demonstratie die voor ‘pro-life’, staat en dus anti-abortus is. “Het is pure moord,” volgens een demonstrant. Hiernaast vinden zij ook euthanasie onacceptabel. Schijnbaar wordt het tegenwoordig bij mensen met dementie, zonder hun toestemming, uitgevoerd. De demonstranten staan hier ook om de Nederlandse cultuur te beschermen. Zij vinden het niet kunnen dat straatnamen van bepaalde individuen uit het verleden, die wellicht geen schone lei hebben, worden veranderd. “Het hoort nu eenmaal bij ons cultuur.” Deze bijeenkomst vond naast het parlement plaats, om zo de aandacht van politici te vangen.

Stirezo voert protestacties, verspreidt petities, schrijft artikelen, verschijnt in de media, waakt bij abortusklinieken – alles om de massale abortus van onschuldige kinderen de wereld uit te helpen. Hiernaast is ‘Cultuur onder Vuur’ een campagne van Stichting Civitas Christiana dat in 2014 is opgericht, om een halt toe te roepen aan de verdere afbrokkeling van de Nederlandse cultuur en tradities. Zij begrijpen de Nederlandse cultuur in de context van de christelijke beschaving, zoals die in de loop der eeuwen in Europa vorm heeft gekregen.
